How you make a difference

The Addictions Counselorprovidescomprehensive treatment and support services toassistpatients in their recovery from addiction bymodifyingproblem behaviors. Theymaintainhigh standardsof professional counseling practicein accordance withclinic policies and procedures, whileparticipatingas an interdisciplinary team member to ensure the best patient experience and positive clinical outcomes. The Addictions Counselor also collaborates with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans that meet the unique needs of each patient.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collects, records, and analyzes data related to medical, mental health, and medication-assisted treatment (MAT) services, and prepares reportscontainingdescriptive, analytical, and evaluative content.

  • Conducts patient assessments, provides case management services, and plans for aftercare while ensuring compliance with policies, laws, and regulations.

  • Acts as a liaison between patients, referral sources, insurance carriers, and members of the multi-disciplinary healthcare team, and attends collaborative meetings tofacilitateMAT patient registries and community outreach activities.

  • Co-facilitates group or family sessions andmaintainsa patient caseload under direct supervision while developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.

  • Continues professional development through in-service education, workshops, conferences, and self-study tomaintaincurrent knowledge applicable to the position and works in partnership with addiction facilities, mental health, and primary care agencies toward goals of collaborated care for patients.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Graduate from an accredited College or University

  • Bachelor’s Degree in social or health services field, Master’spreferred

Experience

  • Two years of experience in a counseling field

  • Experience working directly with behavioral health or addiction recovery population preferred

Licenses/Certification

  • Licensure or Clinical Certification as required by state in which employed
