How you make a difference

As an Optometrist, you will be responsible for treating a wide range of eye diseases, disorders, and injuries under the direction of the Health Services Administrator (HSA), Program Manager (PM), or a higher licensed medical professional. Your role will involve working in compliance with all applicable optometrist standards, state and federal rules and regulations to provide comprehensive eye care services to patients. By leveraging your advanced knowledge and expertise in optometry, you will be making a significant impact on the visual health and well-being of patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive eye exams to identify and address any visual impairments, injuries, or diseases that may impact the patient's vision.

• Educate patients on their options, provide prescriptions for corrective lenses, and prescribe medications as needed.

• Utilize all necessary equipment properly, ensuring it is in good working order, and chart all findings in the patient's medical record.

• Collaborate with the rest of the staff to meet patients' needs and address their questions and concerns.

• May participate in the training and evaluation of new employees and ensure compliance with company and facility documentation requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Graduate of accredited Optometrist school.

Experience

  • Previous correctional/detention facility experience

  • One years’ experience

Licenses/Certifications

  • Unrestricted current Optometrist license in state of practice - must maintain all certifications, educational requirements, licensing, etc.

  • Current (and must maintain) lifesaving BLS certification through AHA

  • Current (and must maintain) lifesaving ACLS certification through AHA
